Glossary of Swiss fleet insurance

The terms Flottaris uses to keep a fleet contract, defined in one to three sentences. Rules with figures are never general: they depend on the terms of your policy.

Brokerage mandate
Mandate by which a company, the principal, entrusts its fleet contract to a broker. In Flottaris it gives the firm access to the register and remains revocable by the principal. Equipping fleet clients
Chassis number
Vehicle identification number assigned by the manufacturer, which stays the same when the plate changes. Vehicle changes
Claim buyback
Repayment of a claim by the holder to avoid its effect on the premium grade, within the period set by the policy. Features
Control plate
Swiss registration plate of a vehicle, made of the canton and a number. Vehicle changes
Defensible register
Register in which every change is dated and proven, so it can be set against the insurer's statement. Register diagnostic
Deposit credit
Possible premium credit linked to a plate deposit, calculated under the terms of your policy: durations, credit basis and convention. Plate deposit and credit
Discrepancy
Difference between a statement line and the amount given by the register and the contract rules, for example an expected credit missing from the statement. Statement audit
Entry and exit
A vehicle joining or leaving the fleet. Each opens or closes the period on which the premium is calculated. Vehicle changes
Fleet contract
Insurance contract covering several vehicles of the same holder in a single policy, with a vehicle list that changes during the year. Features

Dated list of the vehicles in a fleet contract and their changes, kept by the company and shared with its broker. Fleet register in Excel
Fortnights
Prorata convention: any half month started is charged in full. Checker
Full annual premium
Premium of a vehicle for a full year of cover, the basis of any pro rata calculation. Pro rata temporis
Insurer acknowledgement
Confirmation by the insurer that an announced change was received. A late acknowledgement should be chased. Vehicle changes
Matricule key
Nine-digit Swiss vehicle identifier, used to match it without ambiguity. Vehicle changes
Minimum premium
Floor amount of premium the insurer may apply, under the terms of your policy. Statement audit
Plate change
Change by which a fleet vehicle receives another control plate. Vehicle changes
Plate deposit
Handing in the control plates of a vehicle that is off the road for a while. Cover is suspended, under the terms of your policy. Plate deposit and credit
Premium grade
Level of the bonus malus system that adjusts the premium according to claims, under the terms of your policy. Statement audit
Pro rata temporis
Calculation of the premium in proportion to the period actually covered, starting from the full annual premium. Pro rata temporis
Prorata convention
Way of counting the share of the year covered. Five conventions coexist; the contract's one is in the special conditions. Pro rata temporis
Return to service after deposit
Change that puts a vehicle whose plates were deposited back on the road. Plate deposit and credit
Sealed change
Announced change, time-stamped and sealed with a fingerprint, which can no longer be edited. An error is corrected by a reverse mutation. Vehicle changes
Special conditions
Part of the policy specific to your contract, which sets in particular the prorata convention and the deposit rules. Pro rata temporis
Started months
Prorata convention: any month started is charged in full. Checker
Statement
